About

Happiness Mama is for mindful mamas like you.

Welcome to Happiness Mama – where you can come to relax, recharge, and read about happiness at home, for more peace and time for what really matters, you and the people you love.

Daughter and Mother, Heather Ash

I’m Heather Ash, an at-home mama of two sweet girls, and daughter and friend of wonderful, loving parents.

My family is the most important thing in the world to me, and I am into positive parenting and natural living. I am (or was) a homebirthing, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, healthful eating mama. Read the extended version here...

I love being a mother and am so grateful for my beautiful, amazing children.

Like you, I’m me, too. I’m more than “just”  a mother.

While it’s true that my family’s happiness is my top priority, I am part of that family, so my own happiness is also essential.

You know what they say, “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”

In addition to my extensive personal library on parenting and my massive collection of children’s books (I love children’s literature!), I love to read about personal productivity, personal growth, inspiration, and creativity.

Fiction-wise, my favorite hands down is the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. (Jamie! Sigh…!)

I also love to drink coffee, take walks, meditate, and do yoga.

I love dreaming, thinking, and teaching. I taught high school English as a second language/English literature and composition to students from other countries for over eight years, and I loved the students, teaching, and getting to interact with English language and literature. I have also taught other subjects in various capacities, both informally and formally.

And currently I’m back to school, teaching ESOL and Special Ed.

My latest favorite TV show is Vikings.

I have a heart for helping other women by sharing what I’m learning about life, productivity, motherhood, mindfulness, simplicity, decluttering, and more.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed sometimes when you have so much you want to do.

  • Do you go, go, go and try so hard, yet still feel like you’re not getting the things done that you really want to do?
  • Do you long for just a few minutes for yourself, to relax or do something you want to do?

You’re not alone. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when we have so much to do and often wear many different hats. But there is hope! We can take small, gentle steps to improve our lives.

I believe in happiness.

We deserve to be happy, and I believe we create our own happiness through mindful choices. Here at Happiness Mama, I share what I’m learning about…

  • Being happier!
  • Cultivating mindfulness in everyday life.
  • Increasing simplicity.
  • Decluttering.
  • Letting go of perfectionism.
  • Embracing good enough.

…so I can live my best life and be the best mother and person I can be.

At Happiness Mama, I want to support you in your journey of slowing down and finding time for more of what really matters–living intentionally, according to your values.

You can create the life of your dreams.
