Carina Lyall empowers women through creating a compassionate space for us to be heard and gather in community through her storywork sessions and women’s circles.
We talked about our first experiences of becoming a mother not being as easy and blissful as we had expected (to put it mildly), and how there is such a need for women to be able to tell our stories, uncensored, on purpose, for ourselves. There is such healing when we are allowed to speak our truth.
I also really enjoyed hearing her talk about her experience of becoming a mother of two, and now three, daughters. Carina also shares her wisdom about honoring our monthly cycles and how we can mindfully give ourselves what we need throughout our cycles. We also talked about the magic of women’s circles, what they are and why they’re important.
We also talked about what a challenge it can be as moms to find time to get together in person, and our mixed feelings about social media… and how we both like Snapchat!
Carina also shares some of her favorite ways to get self-care in small, quiet moments. Carina is such an honest, wise, fun, and down-to-earth woman, and I was so encouraged by our conversation.
As women, we have the power to uplift one another and ourselves through providing that compassionate space, and that is my wish for all of us.

Quotes:
- “It’s quite special I think to just allow someone to have a voice without going in there to fix them or going in to strategize how they’re going to come out the other end, just giving a woman a breathing space to say this is how I felt, and this is what happened to me, and not making them feel wrong for having that experience.” ~Carina Lyall
- “It ain’t no sin, to take off your skin and dance around in your bones.” ~Tom Waits
